Introduction

Welcome to my blog! Fed up with the all-too cheery and fake perspectives that Earlham College's student bloggers are paid to post (minimum wage, albeit,) I have decided to portray a more real perspective of Earlham College under the anonymity of a blogger account.

Before I get to the real meat and bones of my woes with Earlham, let me tell you a little about my self.


Why did I decide to go to Earlham?

In all honesty, in dealing with so many frustrations in my years here, I have lost sight of why I really wanted to go to EC in the first place. However, recently I have been reflecting on this topic and I think I have adequately tapped into the psyche of my then-18 year old mind.
The admissions counselors at Earlham are the best sales-people I have ever met. If they think you fit the mold, they will be your new favorite uncle. I remember the incredibly nice (and shamelessly flattering) hand-written notes upon my graduation and completion of my gap year from my admissions counselor at Earlham, and I believed that this incredibly involved attention I was getting was an accurate reflection of the amount of personal attention and academic closeness that I would recieve from professors. In addition, I was quite impressed by the statistics, especially the percentage of International students attending the college, and the number of students who chose to study abroad. Finally, the idyllic tour I took of campus (albeit on a rainy day) with a tour gide adequately decked out in large amounts of guatemalan wool clothing had my 18-year-old self feeling that I really would fit in quite well at Earlham College. In all honesty, my reasons for attending Earlham College seem quite superficial now that I've written them down. In retrospect, I really wish I had done more research and not acted upon my shallow impressions of the place.
